TIGER TIGER is an arts and fund-raising project, founded in late 2010 by poet Helen Calcutt and artist Peter Tinkler.
The project has many supporters from across the UK and Europe, working together to raise a collective voice of concern over the plight of this beautiful creature.
Tiger, tiger uses the spoken word as a means to raising awareness of the tiger's right to be a free animal. There are less than 3,200 tigers currently roaming a mere 7% of their former range, due to poaching, clearing of forests for the timber trade, and human settlement. Tiger ,Tiger will therefore be an ongoing campaign, raising as much financial and vocal support as possible. The voices of or campaign include former Birmingham poet laureate Julie Boden, award winning journalist Sarah James, poet Jacqui Rowe, playwright and novelist David Calcutt, and Born Free poet in residence Richard Bonfield.
Having raised a substantial amount of charitable funds for World Wildlife Save the Tiger campaign, we are now focussing our efforts on the BORN FREE project, a charity that shares our 'personal passion for wild animals and desire for positive change.' To read more about Born Free, click on the link at the top of the page.
SUBMISSIONS to the campaign are ongoing. If you would like to submit a poem, a short story, a monologue, a play, a dream recollection - absolutely anything on the theme of tigers - then please read our guidelines page. All submissions will be posted on our Tiger Blog. All submissions will be considered for the Tiger Book, due for release within the next year.
